Afya Mzuri meaning “Good Health” in Swahili is a Zambian local non-governmental organization registered in 2003.
Our Vision is to be recognized as Zambia’s leading experts in behaviour change, community empowerment and knowledge management for health and development. Driving that vision is a dedicated and competent staff and strategic partnerships with other national and international actors.

Afya Mzuri’s diverse work is governed by a Zambian-led Board of Directors supported by a strong and experienced Senior Management Team which is composed of an ED, Finance & Administration Manager, Administration & HR Manager, Senior Programme Manager and is supported by a dedicated team of programme staff. We must say the organisation has extensive experience and expertise implementing behaviour change and community mobilisation and engagement interventions working in both urban and peri-urban settings to address health risk behaviours, combating stigma associated with TB, HIV and STIs in accessing treatment and care services. Our past and current programmes have contributed towards improved public health outcomes for many communities due to behavioural and attitude change influence within communities and work-place settings.

In the 17 years plus of Afya Mzuri existence has successfully handled over 11 USAID and 8 EU funded activities (projects) to the net value of 8 million equivalent US Dollars. Through its focused management, the organisation has continued to perfect and evolve its operations to suit current dynamic demands of development work through well enshrined governance structures, systems and operational procedures that promote transparency, accountability and ethical use of donor resources. The organisation boost of having clearly outlined administrative, financial and human resources systems that uniquely promote professionalism and inspires donor confidence and ability to attract quality human talent and donor support to drive most of its organizational agenda.
